Westbound & Down
Ruidoso is a mountain town best enjoyed at an easy pace. From cozy cabins to resort stays, we’ve shared a few places we love to help you plan a comfortable trip and settle in for the weekend.

Getting There
Ruidoso is a bit off the beaten path, and that’s part of why we love it. While it takes a little intention to get here, the journey is beautiful and well worth it.
By Air
Several airports serve the region. Most guests will want to choose based on flight availability and drive time.
โ
-
El Paso International Airport (ELP) ~2 hour drive
The most popular option with the widest range of flights and airlines. -
Roswell International Air Center (ROW) ~1.5 hour drive
A smaller regional airport with limited service, but the shortest drive. -
Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) ~3–3.5 hour drive
A great alternative with strong options and competitive pricing.
By Car
We strongly recommend renting a car. Ruidoso is best explored at your own pace, and ride share services are limited.
โ
From El Paso or Albuquerque, the drive is scenic and relaxing, moving from open desert into pine-covered mountains as you climb in elevation.

Lodging
Book early. Ruidoso is a small mountain town with limited lodging, especially during fall weekends. We recommend securing your stay as soon as possible.

Hotels in Town
Ruidoso has a limited number of hotels, most of which are simple, no-frills options.
โ
- Hotel Ruidoso – Midtown
Within walking distance of Midtown shops and restaurants.
โ
- Best Western Plus Ruidoso Inn
A standard chain hotel in Midtown
โ
A smaller, chalet-style inn in a quieter setting.

A note on elevation
Ruidoso sits at approximately 7,000 feet above sea level. Days are typically mild, evenings can be cool, and you may notice the altitude if you’re coming from lower elevations. Stay hydrated, take it easy your first day, and bring layers.
